The Tampa Bay History Center and OLLI/USF hosted a three-part lecture series about Tampa's Sicilian community and how these immigrates played an integral role in the growth and character of Tampa Bay. From a small enclave of Sicilian farmers and merchants to titans of local politics and business the Italian - American community of Tampa left an everlasting imprint on a city for generations to come. Family members Rosario Ferlita, Mary Tagliarini, Bill and Ernest Ferlita recall stories about the 1912 - 1945 Ferlita Macaroni Factory in West Tampa and in Ybor City. Discussions also include growing up in Tampa during the early 20th century.
